In-Mold Labeling: Revolutionizing Food Packaging Industry!

Do you know in today’s competitive world – nothing but the best product gets its desired market acceptance? To stand out in this fiercely competitive market, the product should be preeminent from all aspects and aesthetics. Apart from the quality, what is the most appealing point of purchase for a prospective buyer, in the crowd of similar group products? Yes, it is the niche packaging quality, which is blended with distinctiveness and uniqueness, offering the product its individuality on the shelf of tons of similar products in the same category.

In the mall, a prospective buyer will surely get attracted to that ice cream container, which has a stand-out’ packaging. Similarly, products like cheese containers, yogurt cups, biscuit containers, coffee cups, etc., always get an added advantage when their external packaging is different from others. Proactive high-end and consumer product manufacturers from the industries like Ice Cream, Yogurt, Cheese, Biscuit, Coffee, etc. derive their entire marketing strategy by taking into account the packaging container and the message that has to be blended on container-label.

And, to get that Perfection Beyond Improvement packaging container, the futuristic In-Mold Labeling (IML) technology has revolutionized the entire packaging industry. What exactly is IML technology? A pre-printed polypropylene label is integrated with the packaging container during the commencement of its manufacturing process. This technology results in a superior quality end product because the label becomes an integral part of the container.

In-Mold Label Printing Process can be done in the following three processes:

Injection Molding: This is the most sophisticated and widely used process of In-Mold Label printing. In the temperature-controlled process, liquefied polymers and labels are blended to form an amalgamated container. Various types of Ice Cream Containers, Yogurt Cups, Cheese Containers, Biscuit Containers, and IML Coffee Cups are manufactured under this process.

Blow Molding: This process is an excellent option for hollow plastic containers. The molten plastic is put into a hollow tube and controlled air is blown thus giving it the shape of the mold. The inner surface contains the printed label that is made of a polypropylene sheet. Various types of shampoos, sauce, liquid soaps, etc. are manufactured under the blow molding process.

Thermoforming: In this process, the preprinted labels go with the sheets. These hot sheets are embossed or engraved onto a mold that blends the plastic sheets and the printed label. Various types of Ice Cream Cups, Plastic Coffee Cups, etc. are manufactured in this process.

To conclude, here are some of the major advantages of In-Mold Labeling – Eco friendly, less production lead time, less wear and tear, optimum utilization of the container surface area, and high customization options available.
